Wal-Mart is the Missed Connection Capital of American

via the Sex.com Blog:

Where is the best place to fall in love at first sight?

The dance club? The discotheque? The sexy beach?

According to a Craigslist “Missed Connections” survey by Dorothy Grambell and Psychology Today, Wal-Mart is the most popular place for people to find love from just a glance.

The data was assembled by looking at the last 100 Missed Connections from each state. The results were fairly stereotypical of each state.

New Yorkers spotted their potential loves on the Subway, just like every goddamn rom-com ever made. Nevadans saw theirs at Casinos because it’s Nevada. Californians are all about looking good, which is why they had people catching their eye at 24 Hour Fitness. And somehow Indianans were falling in love from the comfort of their own homes (presumably because there’s nowhere else to go in Indiana?).

Interestingly enough, Wal-Mart was the most popular place for missed connections in 15 different states. These states are Idaho, Texas, New Mexico, Montana, South Dakota, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

Take a look at Dorothy Grambell’s infographic:

The survey also revealed that people who are trying to find love* through Craigslist become dirtier over time based on their locations.

20 year olds were finding love in wholesome ice cream shops. 30 year olds were in bars when they missed their connections. And 40 year olds misinterpreted all kind of signals when they posted their missed connections from strip clubs and adult bookstores.

Really? Strip clubs? C’mon old people. Sorry for the generalization but I’m pretty sure those strippers just aren’t that into you.

Worse than the 40 year olds trying to find love by posting missed connections for strippers, this data is a symbol for male loneliness. Men seeking women outnumber women seeking men 86 to 14.

Don’t worry guys, it’s hard to meet women. That’s why we have internet porn.

But to be fair, the missed connection section is usually reserved for those starry-eyed romantics. It’s not really for expert pick-up artists looking to meet women (there’s a section for that on Craigslist and it’s called Casual Encounters). So is it homely, lonely men misinterpreting glances or is romance still alive in the timid men of the United States? I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Either way, get yourself down to Wal-Mart ASAP. Not only are there always low prices at Wal-Mart, you might just see the girl of your dreams. Especially if you live in Idaho, Texas, New Mexico, Montana, South Dakota, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, or North Carolina.

And if the survey hasn’t convinced you that Wal-Mart is a great place to find love, maybe you should see what Mr. Ghetto has to say about Wal-Mart and how to meet women…
